For the Summer 2023 session, we will be working with the VEX IQ ecosystem to build and program fully functional robots over the course of three weeks! Students will work in small groups of two to three with a dedicated instructor assigned to each group. The first two weeks of the program will be dedicated to classroom instruction in engineering and programming concepts. During this time, students will create functional robots with capabilities such as driving, lifting, sorting, and path-following. Students will also participate in minigame challenges for the chance to implement what they learn in a fun, competitive environment. During the final week, students will work with their groups to create robots for our culminating competition. We design a new game for our competition each year, though every year’s game provides our students with the opportunity to use all of the skills they’ve developed throughout our program. And while we will provide assistance when necessary, this final week is designed to be a showcase for students to use what they have learned on their own in a challenging but fulfilling way.
